Sustained Investigation 4
How Can I use Photography and photo editing techniques to show scale? Throughout this project i attempt to show scale by using the Tilt Shift Effect. First I took a photo of a very populated chair lift line, This photo was chosen as it has very clear focal lengths, the people in the foreground, the mid-ground, and a clear background with the tree's and the mountains. Then I applied a Gaussian blur of about 5 and masked out the mid-ground section removing the blur, this was done to create the miniature effect. This attempts to show scale by making large objects, people and more appear as tho they are miniature figurines that where staged. In the future I would change the angle of how the photo is being taken perhaps taking from the chair lift, as the mountains in the background I feel subtract from the photo as the large mountains harm the effect and when looking at other photos of the tilt shift effect what I notice is that A) the photos are taking generally from an arial shot where the subject(s) are below and B) that large objects are the subject or are non existent within the photo. My attempt at it with the mountain does not follow the rule that I have noticed.
